Abstract

LOPEZ RUANO, P.; HERNANDEZ NUNEZ, J.; CABALLOS VILLAR, D.  and  ALVAREZ MONTERO, S.. Mammography in early diagnosis among women aged 40-49 years at average risk of breast cancer. Medifam [online]. 2002, vol.12, n.8, pp.71-74. ISSN 1131-5768.

The screening with mammography among women aged 40-49 years at average risk of breast cancer is conflicting. Some previous trials excluded mammographic breast cancer screening from the periodic health examination with grade D of recommendation. (From Task Force: fair evidence to support the recommendation that the condition or manoeuvre be specifically excluded from a periodic health examination). Ever since numerous papers modifying this standard have been published. Current evidence does not support the recommendation that screening mammography should be included in or excluded from the periodic health examination among women aged 40-49 years at average risk of breast cancer.

Keywords : Screening; Mammography; Mortality; Breast cancer.
