This issue tries to show the necessity to make a precocious detection and diagnostic of boy’s hipoacusia to diminish the severe consequences a delayed diagnostic has for the development of the deaf boy. Data on the beginning of the first programs of detection and precocious diagnosis of hipoacusia in Spain are presented, and how the use of the cochlear implants and the advantage of the auditory critical period are offering new possibilities to the new generations of deaf children.
