Objective: The present study has as objective to analyze the production of knowledge about the thematic "quality in the health services". Methods: They were going analyzed the published jobs abstract Center on Latin American and Caribbean Center on Health Sciences Information - BIREME, quoting the years of 1988 to 2006, research accomplished in the months of May, June and July 2006. Results: From the period of 1988-2006 were found 43 references in the research quality and health services. In the search in the database of Literature Latin American and Caribbean Health Sciences - LILACS, were found 110 references using again the words quality health services, quality and nursing and hospital accreditation from 1980 to 2006, these 98 were selected for further analysis. Conclusions: Despite the limitations, we believe that this work will stimulate the discussion on the production and scientific dissemination of nursing in this area.
