Abstract
MEDINA CORDOBA, Camila Alejandra and PEREZ VILLA, Marjorie. Non-pharmacological measures implemented by nurses for the pain of children with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Index Enferm [online]. 2019, vol.28, n.1-2, pp.46-50. Epub Dec 09, 2019. ISSN 1699-5988.
Objective:
to evaluate the non-pharmacological measures implemented by the nurses management of pain manifested by pediatric patients diagnosed with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia during hospitalization.
Methods:
longitudinal-analytical study, with 35 children hospitalized with Acute Lymphocytic Leukemia. Scales were used to assess the pain and a checklist with the non-pharmacological measures used.
Results:
the main non-pharmacological measure implemented by the nursing staff was to allow physical contact with the caregiver (97.1%). It was observed that the lesions in the body (OR 4.29, 95% CI: 1.93-9.55) and headache (OR 2.61, 95% CI: 1.03-6.60) are factors of risk to present pain and music a factor that improves it (OR 0.44, 95% CI: 0.23-0.87).
Main conclusion:
music therapy as a non-pharmacological measure reduces the perception of pain in children with acute lymphocytic leukemia.
