Abstract

Telemedicine is presented as an alternative in the monitoring of Covid-19 patients in a home confinement situation. Galician Health Service through the home care platform TELEA, managed by nurses belonging to the Shared Monitoring Team for Hospital Care (ESCAH), has provided a home control to all those patients in the Ourense Province (Spain). General: to evaluate of the implementation and management of the home care platform TELEA as a tool of controlling the Covid-19 patient’s evolution with nursing service as a guide.
Methodology:
sequential explanatory quantitative-qualitative study (QUAN → QUAL). Study population: Covid-19 patients included in the TELEA home care program with a incorporation period to the platform between 03/17/2020 and 04/30/2020.
Results:
Data resulting from the quantitative study show a proactive patient, low number of admissions and attention in emergencies during the stay of the patients in TELEA-ESCAH as well as, a high capacity of nurse resolution. The qualitative study shows a patient satisfaction with the platform and with the comprehensive care provided by nursing service.
Conclusions:
TELEA platform is presented as a useful tool for the control of Covid-19 patients in a home confinement situation. Nursing care is essential in the success of telecare with TELEA.
