Abstract
MEDINA GONZALEZ, Amanda and MARTIN PONTEJO, Elena. Effectiveness of psychoeducational programs aimed at main caregivers of relatives with Alzheimer’s disease. Gerokomos [online]. 2018, vol.29, n.1, pp.22-28. ISSN 1134-928X.
Objectives:
The present study considers describing the effectiveness of psychoeducational programs in the reduction of the overburden and the symptomatology derived from it in primary caregivers of relatives with Alzheimer’s disease.
Methodology:
A bibliographic review process has been carried out in different national (IME, CUIDEN) and international (CINAHL, COCHRANE and MEDLINE) electronic databases, completing it with a manual search in electronic editorials, clinical practice guides and search engines, and with a secondary search of articles. Publications published between January 2000 and February 2014 have been accepted.
Results:
The consulted literature offers unclear results; although there are a number of studies in which psychoeducational interventions have shown positive results, in many cases the expected effects are not obtained.
Conclusions:
It is considered necessary to delve into the development of new psychoeducational programs, overcoming the methodological limitations that have been encountered.
