Resumen
RODRIGUEZ-CASTANO, Mónica y TORRA-BOU, Joan Enric. Healthcare failure modes and effects analysis related to dependency injuries in hospitalized adult patients. Systematic review. Gerokomos [online]. 2025, vol.36, n.1, pp.62-68. Epub 05-Mayo-2025. ISSN 1134-928X. https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s1134-928x2025000100011.
Objectives:
To review published articles on the application of the Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEA) tool to identify risks related to dependency related skin injuries in adult patients (≥ 18 years) hospitalized in conventional units.
Methodology:
Search for studies published in the last 10 years in PubMed, LILACS, CUIDEN, CINAHL and Scopus, Joanna Briggs Institute, The Cochrane Library and websites of scientific societies related to wounds and quality. Includes an indirect search was carried out. The CASPe guide and the STROBE guide were used to assess the quality of said studies.
Main results:
359 studies were identified. After the full reading, analysis and quality assessment, 6 meeting the inclusion criteria were selected. None of them included the application of the FMEA tool or data on detection capacity or consequences. Risks with statistical significance and probability data were collected.
Conclusions:
No studies including neither the application of the FMEA tool, nor the detection capacity or consequences of risks related to PU in patients ≥ 18 years admitted to conventional hospitalization have been found. The risks identified with statistical significance do not differ from those described in the previously published literature.
