DAMAS, B. de; ARBIZU, A.; ROMERO, C. e RICO, A.. Oedipism: on a case of autoenucleation of both eyes. Cuad. med. forense [online]. 2003, n.31, pp.47-52. ISSN 1988-611X.
Oedipism is a term referring to ocular autoenucleation derived from Greek mythology as Oedipus, king of Tebas, did it. There are descriptions of cases of autolytic injuries, above all in psychotic patients, which can be associated with autolesions in different parts of the body. We present the case of a patient with a paranoid personality disorder who removed both eyes with his fingers. Also, a review is made on the scarce literature existing on the subject.
