Resumen

CANO NORENA, CO.; GIRALDO, HA.  y  SALAMANCA LOPEZ, CE.. Comparation between the damage produced by ordinary bullets caliber 9 x 19 mm. and bullets .38 special with hollow point. Cuad. med. forense [online]. 2017, vol.23, n.1-2, pp.6-8. ISSN 1988-611X.

There is a discussion at the level of Human Rights (HR) and International Human Rights (IHR) in relation to the use of hollow point bullets in armed conflicts because of the great damage they cause on the victims for their transmission of kinetic energy, compared to the damage produced by ordinary or conventional bullets. For this analysis, shots were fired at clay bricks using a pistol caliber 9 × 19 mm with a conventional projectile and a revolver .38 Special with hollow point projectile, showing in the latter, the large volume of permanent cavity that is generated in the block of clay. This effect is comparable to that which occurs in the human body, showing that way how the hollow point projectile generates higher tissue trauma, which results in more intense pain for the victim, if so, stronger and greater stopping power than conventional projectiles

Palabras clave : Permanent cavity; Stopping power; Hollow point projectile.
