The comprehension of the periimplant pathology has been recently evidenced. On the basis of these studies the infectious aetiology of this pathology has been demonstrated. On the other hand, and regardless these findings, diverse protocols based on experimental and clinical models provide a therapeutic sequence in order to treat periimplantitis cases. The present article focuses on the review and analysis of the evidence published regarding periimplantitis treatment modalities.
