The present communication has reviewed the basic principles of the stripping technique as part of the orthodontic treatment of adult patients with periodontal disease. lts biological bases, advantages, indications and technique have been summarized. The results achieved have been documented with the presentation of two clinical cases whose treatments were postponed for several years due to the patient's negative to accept extractions that were recommended by several specialists. lt is evident that in cases where there is an indication, orthodontic treatment should be part of the multidisciplinary approach of the adult periodontal patient. This way, functional and aesthetic results that satisfy both the professional and the patient will be obtained.
