Abstract
GAVALDA-ESTEVE, Carmen; MURILLO-CORTES, Judith and POVEDA-RODA, Rafael. Erythema multiforme: Revision and update. RCOE [online]. 2004, vol.9, n.4, pp.415-423. ISSN 1138-123X.
Erythema multiforme is a disorder of the skin and mucosal membranes, manifesting as erythematous and vesicle-blister lesions. In the oral cavity, the vesicle-blister and erosive lesions can be caused by a considerable variety of disorders. The underlying etiology is highly variable, and ranges from traumatisms or contact chemical action to autoimmune mechanisms. Since a differential diagnosis is sometimes difficult to establish, it is important to know the clinical, epidemiological and histological particularities of each of the possible causes. A review is made of the epidemiological, etiopathogenic, clinical, histological, management and prognostic characteristics of erythema multiforme.
Keywords : Erythema multiforme; Oral mucosa.
