Abstract
VAZQUEZ-LOPEZ, Francisco; RODRIGUEZ-VIGIL, Beatriz and GOTOR-CORRALES, M. Luisa. Literature as a complementary educational resource in the teaching and learning of dermatology. Educ. méd. [online]. 2012, vol.15, n.1, pp.31-36. ISSN 1575-1813.
Introduction. To classify literary texts from a medical perspective facilitates their application in the teaching and learning of medicine and dermatology. Materials and methods. Qualitative analysis of multiple literary texts and selection of those texts that contain references to a common skin disease (acne), which was selected as a paradigm. Results. A classification was carried out of the literary texts analyzed, based on five groups: autobiography of the skin disease; the writer describing skin disease in others; skin disease as a stylistic device in literature; the physician as writer: stylistic devices in the medical description of the disease; and medical texts related to selected literary texts. Conclusions. The literary texts, from a medical perspective, can be classified into five groups; this classification facilitates their implementation as a didactic resource in medical education and specialised dermatology teaching.
