Abstract

ANTUNES, J.C.P. et al. Tecnologia coadjuvante no tratamento do recém-nato prematuro (cuidados de enfermagem no uso do CPAP NASAL). Enferm. glob. [online]. 2010, n.20. ISSN 1695-6141.

The objectives of the study are: To report the experience, in practice, of the main adverse effects newborn babies are subjected to while using the nasal CPAP; to suggest, given the anatomical-physiological vulnerability of the patients, how the nursing staff should install the nasal CPAP. Descriptive, observational study carried out in June and July 2008, using participant observation and a field diary. The possible adverse effects are produced as a cascade, initiated by ischemia and necrosis of the mucous and followed by a septal deviation. It is concluded that nasal CPAP was also conceived to be contributory to the treatment, but when being used without suitable observation, it can complicate the process of health restoration as well as the quality of nursing care offered to the newborn baby.
