Abstract

MARQUES ANDRES, Susana. Continuous training: a capacitation tool. Enferm. glob. [online]. 2011, vol.10, n.21. ISSN 1695-6141.

A search of the literature on "Continuous Training" as the main theme was made. The findings highlighted the need to reflect on certain aspects, which are dealt with in this document, in order to improve the quality of attention and to achieve greater patient and patient's family satisfaction with the nursing care received. Continuous Training serves to update and improve skills, it has clear aims and it is measurable. However, it does require planning based on detection of needs. There are four basic questions to be answered: What is the current situation? What do we need? What do we want? Where do we want to get to? Participants also need to be motivated to take part actively and to get involved. Continuous Training may be seen as a process of change in conduct when the changes are implemented in clinical practice. There is also a short-term need, although it is focused towards the future, to develop skills to improve quality and achieve clinical excellence.

Keywords : Continuous training; Capacitation; Skills.
