The objectives that we propose in this article are three: to present a broad biographical synthesis of José Estrade Camúñez (1904-1973), mainly about his academic training and professional activity; analyze his work at the head of the Municipal Hygiene Laboratory of Jerez de la Frontera; and finally, submit a list of its main medical publications. We present in this work the activity at the Laboratory during the Second Republic, the Civil War and the Postwar period, studying especially the manufacturing of the smallpox vaccine, as well as the annual reports carried out by the Director of the Laboratory.
