Abstract

VELASQUEZ-VERGARA, Sandra  and  ARROYAVE-ALVAREZ, Orlando. Relationship between care and recognition. Temperamentvm [online]. 2021, vol.17, e13143.  Epub Jan 27, 2023. ISSN 1699-6011.

From a qualitative approach, this article seeks to identify the relationship between the theory of recognition and care, in order to explore and analyze its application in different intersubjective and social phenomena. To explore this relationship, 65 documentary sources dealing with the two topics of interest were reviewed. To address the concept of recognition, the proposal of the philosopher of the Frankfurt School Axel Honneth was taken, who, based on Hegel's theory, reconfigures the three spheres of recognition in human experience (love, law and social solidarity). In each one of them, the importance of care that goes beyond the clinical field is observed, since it extrapolates to other non-human environments, such as caring for other species and nature in general. The proposed analysis, from the theory of recognition, it allows to give a philosophical, ethical and political foundation to the care process.
