Pirate activity is considered like one of the oldest risk international maritime security, that continues today in countries like Somalia. International naval forces (like "Atalanta Operation") have got a very important decrease in the number of attacks in Horn of Africa. When suspected pirates are detained by military crew, they should be attendance by medical members. The objective of this article is to analyze legal and medical aspects about pirate attention, describe Spanish experience kept in "Atalanta Operation" and review bibliography published about the subject.
