BALADO-SIMO, P; DOMINGUEZ-FREIRE, F  e  PONTE-HERNANDO, FJ. Adolfo Rey Seijo: surgeon, military doctor and academician Eumés (1942-2016). Sanid. Mil. [online]. 2024, vol.80, n.3, pp.155-162.  Epub 05-Mar-2025. ISSN 1887-8571.  https://dx.doi.org/10.4321/s1887-85712024000300010.

Adolfo Rey Seijo (1942-2016) was a Galician surgeon and Medical Brigadier General who enjoyed great recognition within our country, reaching the position of Full Academician on Military Medicine of the Royal Academy of Medicine and Surgery of Galicia (RAMYCGA) and that of Health Director of the Air Force. During the almost 40 years that his professional career lasted, he knew how to combine the military sphere with the medical one, without neglecting his interest in scientific research in which he specialized: General Surgery and Digestive System; as a good pupil of the prolific chair of Surgery of Professor Puente Domínguez at the University of Santiago de Compostela.

We have tried to value his figure and analyze his scientific and professional career, placing ourselves in his historical context and using contemporary bibliographic references. In this way we try to recognize the importance of his contribution to Spanish Military Medicine, being another example of the prolific relationship between both fields, along with other figures also galicians as the drs. Gómez Ulla, Gómez Durán, Cesáreo Fernández de Losada, Vidal Ríos, Estrada Catoyra, Sierra Forniés or Sal Lence.

Apart from being elected Full Member of the RAMYCGA, he was awarded the Grand Cross of Aeronautical Merit and the Grand Cross of San Hermenegildo, among others, for his services in the Armed Forces.
