Resumen

CAMACHO BARREIRO, Lidia; PESADO CARTELLE, José  y  RUMBO-PRIETO, José María. Opinion of nursing and correlation between the visual analog scale, verbal and numerical in the valuation of acute pain as the fifth vital parameter. Ene. [online]. 2016, vol.10, n.1. ISSN 1988-348X.

To know the opinion of nurses about the usefulness of recording and valuation of acute pain as 5th clinic constant; as well as determine the correlation of visual analogue scale (VAS) with the Verbal Rating Scale (VRS) and the Verbal Numerical Rating Scale (VNRS). Methodology: Observational study. Survey "ad hoc" and linear correlation between scales. Descriptive and inferential statistical analysis using the intraclass correlation coefficient and Bland-Altman method. Results: 102 professionals (58% female). 90.2% believe it is important that acute pain is measured; 65.7% see the impractical VAS; 80.4% do not know when to reassess the pain (p <0.05). The concordance between scales was low to moderate, with the VNRS the best alternative to VAS. Conclusions: The procedure for recognition and measurement of pain was highly valued by professionals, but its implementation showed low adherence. The agreement obtained was not significant guarantees to replace the VAS.

Palabras clave : Acute Pain; pain measurement; visual analog scale.
