Resumen

DOMINGUEZ GONZALEZ, Analía  y  HERRERO JAEN, Sara. Análisis del sistema de limitación de acción en los requerimientos de autocuidado: una aproximación a un nuevo paradigma de dependencia en salud. Ene. [online]. 2018, vol.12, n.1, 788.  Epub 16-Nov-2020. ISSN 1988-348X.

Throughout the analysis of this article, we present a new vision to the concept of dependant person. To date, what has been studied is simply a polarised stance between a dependency situation and an independency situation. This has fostered that the management models adopted in the health sector, and as such in the nursing field, have had to align themselves towards one thought leadership or the other.

However, the current context in which society finds itself today offers us the opportunity to question such model in the interest of providing a better answer, better adapted, if at all possible, to the demands of the individuals. Such demands take into consideration the need to consider motivations, abilities and means of the people and are able to offer more suitable answers.

This new point of view requires a parallel transformation in the way the person demanding health services approaches the nursing professional, but also as a consequence, in how the health system itself evolves.

Additionally, this translates into the need to change the model to one that promotes a more active role of the individual leading him to be the principal of its own dependency situation, moving away from a paternalistic model where dependency equates to the concept of receiver of health services to a participatory model in which the individual demanding the services is conscious of its role and, proactively, leads it demanding need towards a responsible autonomy.
