Abstract
GARCIA HERNANDEZ, Alfonso Miguel. Continuidad de vínculos y espiritualidad en padres que perdieron hijos. Ene. [online]. 2019, vol.13, n.3, 1331. Epub Mar 02, 2020. ISSN 1988-348X.
This qualitative study, with a phenomenological focus, includes grief research on the narratives of a sample of forty-five parents living in the Canary Islands who lost their children. In particular, it delves into how the continuing bonds and the spiritual dimension that keeps mothers and fathers connected to their deceased children is constructed and manifested.
The discursive analysis explores how the continuity of links with deceased children configures in parents the elaboration of personal meanings that complement and reinforce each other in the heart of the cultural group to which they belong, forming a lasting memory. Thus, mothers and fathers, in addition to being supported in their faith in the elaboration of meaning, are supported by the connections they establish with those who share the pain of loss and with those who develop rituals and reconstruct new socio-cultural narratives. They help them to maintain the continuity of ties with their deceased children, by integrating this bond into the social reality of their community as they move forward in the process of grieving.
