This article includes the experiences, knowledge and remarks that I had interacting with patients, their relatives, other interns and the multidisciplinary team during my social service year on a public hospital in Queretaro city, Mexico. The objective intended is to describe the challenges an intern faces and also portray the importance of the intern's development within the hospital's environment. The methodology has an autobiographical qualitative study approach.
