RAIMUNDO-LEONE, Denise Rocha; PAULA-SILVA, Arison Cristian de y AGUIAR, Aline Silva-de. Activation of the patient diagnosed with chronic kidney disease: an integrative review. Enferm Nefrol [online]. 2021, vol.24, n.1, pp.11-23. Epub 26-Abr-2021. ISSN 2255-3517. https://dx.doi.org/10.37551/s2254-28842021002.
Objective:
To know the activation measures used by patients with chronic kidney disease and the associated factors.
Methodology:
Integrative literature review carried out in the following databases: Pubmed, Lilacs, Scielo, Scopus, Science Direct and Insignia Health. The descriptors were used: Patient Activation, Nephrology, Kidney and Renal Insufficiency, Chronic as well as the terms in Portuguese and Spanish and the Boolean operators AND and OR. No date filter was used for searches. Nine manuscripts made up the final sample of this review.
Results:
The average activation score varied between 51±10 and 65.02±16 points, with a predominance of people with high activation (levels 3 and 4). Patient activation was associated with multiple variables such as age, socioeconomic status, education and symptom load.
Conclusions:
Knowing the level of activation of patients and the associated factors helps the health professional to obtain and/or maintain a high activation.
