Introduction:
Scientific literature indicates that occupational exposure to certain chemical agents is related to a greater risk of suffering from Pancreatic Cancer.
Objective:
This study aims to analyze whether the population exposed to these agents in Asturias has a greater risk of suffering from the disease.
Material and Methods:
An observational case-control study was designed based on patients diagnosed with Pancreatic Cancer in Asturias between January 1, 2014 and December 31, 2019. As controls, the relatives of the cases of the same biological sex and similar age, without diagnosis of disease. To obtain information, medical records were reviewed and telephone interviews were conducted.
Results and conclusions:
Exposures to amines, asbestos, hydrocarbons and chromium were established as risk factors for disease. Personnel who worked in welding, electricity and mining tasks were more likely to get sick.
