<self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.isciii.es/scielo.php?script=sci_arttext&amp;pid=S0213-12852025000100006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.isciii.es/scielo.php?script=sci_abstract&amp;pid=S0213-12852025000100006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><self-uri xlink:href="http://scielo.isciii.es/scielo.php?script=sci_pdf&amp;pid=S0213-12852025000100006&amp;lng=en&amp;nrm=iso"></self-uri><abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="es"><p><![CDATA[RESUMEN  Introducción: la colocación del implante dental, la curación del sitio quirúrgico, la osteointegración y la estabilidad de los tejidos óseos son desafíos a los que se enfrentan para lograr la salud y la estabilidad a largo plazo de los implantes. Los probióticos son microorganismos vivos cuyo consumo en adecuadas cantidades puede aportar beneficios para la salud, desempeñando un papel importante en el cuerpo inhibiendo los patógenos, promoviendo la homeostasis del tejido óseo y facilitando la regeneración de los tejidos, modulando los niveles inmunoinflamatorios. Esta scoping review tuvo como objetivo evaluar el efecto de los probióticos en el posterior proceso quirúrgico de regeneración ósea.  Material y Métodos: se realizó una búsqueda electrónica vía PubMed, Scopus y Cochrane de ensayos clínicos aleatorizados, que incluían los efectos del uso probióticos en la enfermedad periimplantaria, publicados en los últimos 10 años, en inglés y con texto completo.  Resultados: fueron incluidos 5 ensayos clínicos, 4 de los cuales en animales (peces zebra, conejos, ratas) y uno in vitro. Todos estudios revisados revelaron que probióticos como Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bacillus subtilis, y proteínas extracelulares de Lactobacillus acidophilus mostraron efectos positivos en la promoción de la osteogénesis, la regulación de la inflamación y la inhibición de la formación de biopelículas patógenas.  Conclusiones: la administración de probióticos como tratamiento coadyuvante a la regeneración ósea muestra un gran potencial para mejorar la salud del implante y la regeneración ósea oral, siendo necesaria evidencia clínica adicional para confirmar su eficacia y seguridad en el campo de la cirugía oral regenerativa.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Introduction: Dental implant placement, surgical site healing, osseointegration, and the stability of bone tissues are challenges faced in achieving long-term implant health and stability. Probiotics are live microorganisms whose consumption in appropriate quantities can provide health benefits, playing an important role in the body by inhibiting pathogens, promoting bone tissue homeostasis, and facilitating tissue regeneration by modulating immunoinflammatory levels. This scoping review aimed to evaluate the effect of probiotics on the postoperative process of bone regeneration.  Material and Methods: An electronic search was conducted via PubMed, Scopus, and Cochrane for randomized clinical trials that included the effects of probiotic use on peri-implant disease, published in the last 10 years, in English, and with full text available.  Results: Five clinical trials were included, four of which involved animal models (zebrafish, rabbits, rats) and one was in vitro. All reviewed studies revealed that probiotics such as Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus GG, Lactobacillus plantarum, Bacillus subtilis, and extracellular proteins from Lactobacillus acidophilus showed positive effects in promoting osteogenesis, regulating inflammation, and inhibiting the formation of pathogenic biofilms.  Conclusions: The administration of probiotics as an adjunctive treatment for bone regeneration shows great potential to improve implant health and oral bone regeneration. Additional clinical evidence is needed to confirm their efficacy and safety in the field of regenerative oral surgery.]]></p></abstract>
