Método:  Estudio epidemiológico transversal. Del registro poblacional de AC de la Comunitat Valenciana se seleccionaron las gestantes cuyo embarazo finalizó entre 2007 y 2021 con nacidos vivos o muertos. Se clasificaron según edad (&lt; 35 años y &#8805; 35 años), provincia de residencia y país de nacimiento. El análisis incluyó estadística descriptiva general y según las características de las gestantes y de los nacidos. Se utilizaron las pruebas t de Student o (2 para la comparación de variables. Se obtuvo la prevalencia de AC (total y por grupos) y sus intervalos de confianza al 95% por 10.000 nacimientos para las tres características.  Resultados:  Se identificaron 12.306 gestantes. El 65,0% tenían &lt; 35 años, el 72,9% nacieron en España y el 45,7% residían en la provincia de Valencia. Se observó mayor prevalencia de nacidos con AC, con diferencias estadísticamente significativas, en las gestantes &#8805; 35 años (194,7/10.000 nacimientos), en las no nacidas en España (195,9/10.000 nacimientos) y en las residentes en Castellón (245,2/10.000 nacimientos).  Conclusiones:  Se observa una relación de las AC con la edad, el lugar de residencia y el país de nacimiento de las gestantes, confirmando que la vigilancia de las AC supone un desafío para la salud pública.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Objective:  To describe pregnant women&#8217;s profile with children with congenital defects (CD) in Valencian Region and to identify differences in pregnancy outcomes based on the characteristics of pregnant.  Method:  Cross-sectional epidemiological study. Pregnant women with live births or stillbirths between 2007-2021 were selected from the CD population-based registry of Valencian Region. Pregnant women were classified by: age (&lt; 35 years and &#8805; 35 years), residence province and birth country. The analysis included general descriptive statistics as well as statistics for each characteristic of the pregnant women and the CD of children. To compare the variables, t test or (2 test were used. CD prevalence (total and by groups) and its 95% confidence intervals per 10,000 births were calculated for the three characteristics.  Results:  12,306 pregnant women were identified. 65.0% were &lt; 35 years, 72.9% born in Spain and 45.7% resided in Valencia province. The highest prevalence of CD children with statistically significant differences was in woman pregnant &#8805; 35 years (194.7/10,000 births), not born in Spain (195.9/10,000 births) and residents in Castellon (245.2/10,000 births).  Conclusions:  The study highlights the relationship between CD and age, residence, and birth country of pregnant women, and confirmed the CD surveillance is a Public Health challenge.]]></p></abstract>
