La fisura labio alveolo palatina es una de las malformaciones congénitas más frecuentes. El Hospital Garrahan, en Buenos Aires (Argentina), centro de alta complejidad referente en nuestro país, desarrolla la atención y el seguimiento de los pacientes con fisura labio alveolo palatina desde el nacimiento hasta completar la mayoría de edad. La ortopedia prequirúrgica en conjunto con la rinoqueiloplastia es una de las primeras intervenciones realizadas en esta patología. El objetivo del presente trabajo se centrará en la fisura labio alveolo palatina unilateral, midiendo los parámetros antropométricos establecidos antes y después de la técnica de Millard II, con el propósito de determinar cuáles son de utilidad para predecir la simetría labial en el resultado final.  Material y método. Recolectamos 29 pacientes fisurados entre el 1 de agosto de 2023 y el 31 julio 2024; medimos los distintos parámetros antropométricos: anchura de la fisura (GAP), fisura labial (FL), diferencia entre altura del labio lado sano y fisurado prequirúrgico (DAPRE), diferencia entre altura del labio lado sano y fisurado posquirúrgico (DAPOP), diferencia entre longitud del labio lado sano y fisurado prequirúrgico (DLPRE), diferencia entre longitud del labio lado sano y fisurado posquirúrgico (DLPOP). Realizamos análisis estadístico mediante test de Wilcoxon rank y prueba de Mann Whitney.  Resultados. Comparamos grupos de fisurados completos e incompletos. Las 2 medidas que llamaron la atención fueron la longitud y la altura del labio. El resultado final estético suele ser más significativo cuando hay deficiencias en la altura vertical.  Conclusiones. En nuestra muestra, la altura vertical es la que mayor repercusión tiene en el resultado posoperatorio. La técnica de Millard es útil para aquellas fisuras que necesitan corrección de altura del labio predominante. Un cirujano necesita aprender más de una técnica de queiloplastia a fin de ajustar cada técnica según las características de la fisura. Nivel de evidencia científica 4c Terapéutico]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Abstract  Background and objective. Cleft lip and palate is one of the most frequent congenital malformations. The Garrahan Hospital, Buenos Aires, Argentina, a high-complexity referral center in our country, provides care and follow-up for patients with cleft lip and palate from birth until adulthood. Pre-surgical orthopedics, together with rhinoplasty, is one of the first interventions performed on this condition. The aim of our study will focus on unilateral cleft lip and palate, measuring the anthropometric parameters established before and after surgery and applying the Millard II technique, with the aim of determining which ones are useful for predicting lip symmetry in the final outcome.  Methods. Data from 29 cleft patients were collected between August 1-2023, and July 31-2024, and performed measurements of different anthropometric parameters: cleft width (GAP), cleft lip (FL), difference between the height of the healthy and cleft lip sides pre-surgery (DAPRE), difference between the height of the healthy and cleft lip sides post-surgery (DAPOP), difference in the length of the healthy and cleft lip sides pre-surgery (DLPRE), and difference in the length of the healthy and cleft lip sides post-surgery (DLPOP). Statistical analysis was done using the Wilcoxon rank and the Mann Whitney test.  Results. We compared complete versus incomplete cleft groups. Two measures that stood out were the length and the height of the lip. The final aesthetic result tends to be more significant when there are deficiencies in vertical height.  Conclusions. In our sample, vertical height has the greatest impact on the postoperative outcome. The Millard technique is useful for those clefts that require correction of the predominant lip height.
