Métodos: Estudio descriptivo de corte transversal, realizado en el período de junio a diciembre del 2021. La muestra fue de 108 pacientes mayores de 18 años. Las variables estudiadas corresponden a datos demográficos, clínicos, consumo de ciertos alimentos y drogas. La información se tabuló y procesó con el programa estadístico SPSS 25, utilizando estadísticos descriptivos para variables cuantitativas y frecuencias absolutas y relativas en porcentaje para las variables cualitativas.  Resultados: 100 pacientes cumplieron criterios de inclusión (55% mujeres y 45% hombres). La media de edad fue 62 años ± 14,8. El diagnóstico principal fue fibrilación auricular (67%), seguido de trombosis venosa profunda (14%) y cardiopatía valvular (5%). El 82% presentaba más de dos comorbilidades, siendo la hipertensión arterial la más frecuente (34,2%). La dosis media fue 30,34 mg/semana. El 76 % presentó valores inadecuados de INR. El 49% fueron polimedicados. El 76% reportó más de dos RAM, principalmente eventos hemorrágicos menores. Fue poco frecuente el consumo de alimentos y drogas que interactúan con la warfarina.  Conclusiones: El estudio confirma que los datos demográficos, diagnósticos, comorbilidades y dosis, son similares a lo reportado en la literatura. Los valores de INR en rangos sub o supra terapéuticos son mucho más altos que lo encontrando en otros estudios, reflejando limitaciones del manejo y el no alcance de los objetivos terapéuticos, aumentando el riesgo de RAM, principalmente hemorrágicos.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[SUMMARY:  Objective: The objective of this study is to describe the use of warfarin in outpatients with an indication for anticoagulant therapy to identify problems associated with therapeutic management. Methods: Descriptive cross-sectional study, carried out from June to December 2021. The sample consisted of 108 patients over 18 years of age. The variables studied correspond to demographic and clinical data, consumption of certain foods and drugs. The information was tabulated and processed with the statistical program SPSS 25, using descriptive statistics for quantitative variables and absolute and relative frequencies in percentage for qualitative variables.  Results: 100 patients met the inclusion criteria (55% women and 45% men). The mean age was 62 years ± 14.8. The main diagnosis was atrial fibrillation (67%), followed by deep vein thrombosis (14%) and valvular heart disease (5%). 82% had more than two comorbidities, with arterial hypertension being the most frequent (34.2%). The mean dose was 30.34 mg/week. 76% had inadequate INR values. 49% were polymedicated. 76% reported more than two ADRs, mainly minor hemorrhagic events. The consumption of foods and drugs that interact with warfarin was infrequent.  Conclusions: The study confirms that the demographic data, diagnoses, comorbidities and dose are similar to those reported in the literature. INR values in subor supra-therapeutic ranges are much higher than found in other studies, reflecting management limitations and the failure to achieve therapeutic goals, increasing the risk of ADRs, mainly hemorrhagic.]]></p></abstract>
