Objetivo Lograr un instrumento que permita evaluar esta competencia en los estudiantes de medicina durante toda la carrera de una manera útil y práctica para su realimentación.  Sujetos y métodos Se construyeron y validaron 11 escalas integradas en un instrumento de tipo Likert para evaluar los principales aspectos que influyen en el crecimiento y el desarrollo personal. Se aplicaron a 1.024 estudiantes de primer año de medicina de una universidad pública de México. Se realizó el alfa de Cronbach y el análisis factorial con rotación Varimax de cada una de las escalas.  Resultados El 92,6% de las encuestas fue válido, la población fue de 600 mujeres (63,3%) y 348 hombres (36,7%), con una mediana de edad de 19 años. Los valores del alfa de Cronbach oscilaron entre 0,573 y 0,794, y las varianzas, entre el 39,94% y el 65,53%.  Conclusiones El instrumento de autoaplicación muestra un nivel de fiabilidad adecuado. La consistencia interna y la validez de constructo muestran su fortaleza y utilidad para evaluar el desarrollo y el crecimiento personal de los alumnos, y podrán aplicarse durante toda su formación. Contar con un instrumento válido y accesible para evaluar actitudes y desarrollo personal será de gran utilidad tanto para los alumnos como para la propia facultad.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary  Introduction The development and personal growth of medical students is considered as a fundamental part of the professional development of medical future, however studies cover only some of the aspects that compose and are generally difficult to apply and interpret.  Aim Achieve an instrument to evaluate the competition in medical students throughout the career of a useful and practical for feedback from them.  Subjects and methods Eleven were constructed and validated integrated scales in a Likert instrument to assess the main aspects that influence growth and personal development. They were applied to 1,024 freshmen of Medicine of a public university in Mexico. Cronbach's alpha factor analysis with Varimax of each rotation was performed and scales.  Results 92.6% of surveys were valid, the population was 600 women (63.3%) and 348 men (36.7%) with a median age of 19 years. The Cronbach's alpha values ranged from 0.573-0.794 and variances between 39.94% and 65.53%.  Conclusions The self-applied instrument shows an adequate level of reliability. The internal consistency and construct validity, shows its strength and usefulness to assess development and personal growth of the students and can be applied throughout their training. Have a valid and accessible to assess attitudes and personal development tool will be useful for both students and for faculty itself.]]></p></abstract>
