Este estudio explora las percepciones y experiencias de estudiantes de enfermería en una universidad de Chile respecto al uso de la simulación virtual como parte de su formación. Dado que la simulación virtual ha destacado como una herramienta valiosa para mejorar el aprendizaje práctico y fortalecer la confianza en los estudiantes, su evaluación es fundamental para entender su impacto en el contexto educativo actual.  Sujetos y métodos. Se llevó a cabo un estudio descriptivo y transversal con la participación de 61 estudiantes de segundo año inscritos en la asignatura Fundamentos Teóricos para el Cuidado de Enfermería II. Utilizando el software vSim® for Nursing, se evaluaron aspectos como la usabilidad, la accesibilidad, la calidad técnica, el soporte docente, la eficacia educativa y los resultados de aprendizaje a través de un cuestionario de tipo Likert.  Resultados. Los estudiantes describieron una experiencia mayoritariamente positiva con la simulación virtual. El 93,5% encontró que la herramienta era fácil de usar y el 90,2% afirmó que la simulación virtual les ayudó a prepararse mejor para enfrentarse a situaciones clínicas reales. Sin embargo, el 50,9% de los estudiantes mencionó que el idioma inglés fue un desafío.  Conclusión. La simulación virtual demostró ser una metodología efectiva para la formación en enfermería, aunque persisten desafíos relacionados con el idioma. Estos hallazgos subrayan la importancia de seguir integrando y mejorando esta herramienta en el currículo académico.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ Introduction. This study explores the perceptions and experiences of nursing students at a university in Chile regarding the use of virtual simulation as part of their training. Given that virtual simulation has emerged as a valuable tool for enhancing practical learning and boosting students' confidence, evaluating its impact is essential for understanding its role in the current educational context.  Subjects and methods. A descriptive, cross-sectional study was conducted with 61 second-year students enrolled in the course Theoretical Foundations for Nursing Care II. Using the vSim® for Nursing software, usability, accessibility, technical quality, instructor support, educational effectiveness, and learning outcomes were assessed through a Likert-type questionnaire.  Results. The students reported a predominantly positive experience with virtual simulation. 93.5% found the tool easy to use, and 90.2% stated that virtual simulation helped them better prepare for real clinical situations. However, 50.9% of the students mentioned that English posed a challenge.  Conclusion. Virtual simulation proved to be an effective method for nursing education, although language-related challenges remain. These findings highlight the importance of continuing to integrate and improve this tool within the academic curriculum.]]></p></abstract>
