Introducción:  una asociación que ha sido ampliamente debatida en las últimas décadas es el turno nocturno y su potencial efecto sobre el riesgo de cáncer de mama. Se ha clasificado como un posible carcinógeno por la IARC; clasificándolo así en el grupo 2 A en el año 2007.  Objetivos:  identificar la prevalencia de los factores intrínsecos y extrínsecos asociados en el cáncer de mama en el personal de sanitario de un Hospital de III nivel.  Metodología:  estudio descriptivo de corte transversal usando una encuesta auto administrada a 49 trabajadoras sanitarias que padecieron de cáncer de mama entre el 2007-2016.  Resultados:  una media de edad al momento del diagnóstico de 50,82, encontrando el mayor número de casos en las enfermeras (34,7%) y TCAE (28,6%). El 44,8% había realizado &#8805;1007 noches a lo largo de su vida laboral, que incluía en un 15% 6 a 7 noches consecutivas durante un periodo &#8805;5 años. Presentaron receptores EG+/PG+ el 66%, el 27,5% tenía un historial de trabajo nocturno regular de 3 noches/mes por más de 30 años y entre 15-29 años el 37,9%.  Conclusión:  actualmente se está trabajando en los cambios del estilo de vida para reducir el riesgo de cáncer de mama, incidiendo en la dieta, ejercicio e intentando respetar las horas de sueño.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[Summary  Introduction:  an association that has been widely debated in recent decades is the night shift and its potential effect on the risk of breast cancer. It has been classified as a possible carcinogen by IARC; classifying it as such in group 2 A in 2007.  Objectives:  to identify the prevalence of intrinsic and extrinsic factors associated in breast cancer in the health personnel of a Hospital of III level.  Methodology:  descriptive cross-sectional study using a self-administered survey of 49 health workers who suffered from breast cancer between 2007-2016.  Results:  average age at the time of diagnosis of 50.82, finding the highest number of cases in nurses (34.7%) and ACT (28.6%). 44.8% had performed &#8805;1007 nights throughout their working life, which included in 15% 6 to 7 consecutive nights over a period &#8805;5 years. They presented EG + / PG + receptors 66%, 27.5% had a regular night work history of 3 nights / month for more than 30 years and between 15-29 years 37.9%.  Conclusion:  currently working on changes in lifestyle to reduce the risk of breast cancer, affecting diet, exercise and trying to respect the hours of sleep.]]></p></abstract>
