Objetivo:  Describir el efecto de pausas activas en la disminución de riesgos a Trastornos musculoesqueléticos (TME) de extremidades superiores (EESS) en oficinistas.  Material y Métodos:  Estudio de diseño cuasi-experimental en donde participaron 30 oficinistas entre 25 y 55 años pertenecientes a una institución pública de administración en salud de la región de Maule (Chile). 15 de ellos fueron asignados al grupo control y 15 al grupo experimental. Este último grupo recibió una intervención pausas activas (8 semanas, 2 veces por semana, 20 minutos por sesión). El riesgo a TME se evaluó con el método rapid upper limb Assessment (RULA) pre y post intervención.  Resultados:  El grupo experimental disminuyó el riesgo a TME significativamente (p= 0,008; TE= 0,87), mientras que el grupo control no presentó cambios en el riesgo a TME (p= 0,257; TE= 0,37).  Conclusiones:  La intervención de pausas activas favorece la disminución del riesgo a TME de EESS en oficinistas.]]></p></abstract>
<abstract abstract-type="short" xml:lang="en"><p><![CDATA[ABSTRACT  Objective:  To describe the effect of active breaks in reducing the risk of Upper Extremity Musculoskeletal Disorders (MSD) in office workers.  Material and Methods:  Quasi-experimental design study with the participation of 30 office workers between the ages of 25 and 55 belonging to a public health administration institution in the Maule region (Chile). 15 of them were assigned to the control group and 15 to the experimental group. This last group received an active pause intervention (8 weeks, 2 times a week, 20 minutes per session). The risk of TME was evaluated with the rapid upper limb Assessment (RULA) method before and after the intervention.  Results:  The experimental group decreased the risk of TME significantly (p= 0.008; TE= 0.87), while the control group did not present changes in the risk of TME (p= 0.257; TE= 0.37).
