Abstract

It is a biographical account of my recent experience as a nursing coordinator and the emotional and personal cost that this has entailed for me.

Working in healthcare in these times means, in many moments, living in an unstable balance, in which we have spent a year and a half with sustained stress with a plus of responsibility, fear, uncertainty and contradictions in the instructions received.

Little by little, the time to meditate, reflect and learn disappeared. As well as the balance between my profession and the role of woman, mother and friend disappeared...let alone receiving self-care, attention and nutrition from life in general.

We went from healthcare-patient trust to distrust, hostility and fear in relationships and thus we now live in a society with a constant frizz with everyone in general and with us in particular.

I look around me and I believe that I am not the only one living on the tightrope. I have seen colleagues lose their temper, cry from impotence and saturation.

It keeps me on the rope and helps me not to fall, trust in the universe, the conviction that every cycle has its beginning and its end, every process has its own pace and that from the worst situations we have to learn something that eventually will make us stronger. But, even though this pandemic has brought out the worst in human beings, it has also sometimes brought out the best in ourselves.

And here I am, hoping that all of this will help me take root, anchor myself and get out once and for all of this tightrope of which I can't find the end.
