Introduction.

Nurses have an indispensable role in the management of care regarding the future therapeutic purposes of cannabis in addition to recognizing the disciplinary roles in these instances. The proposed objective was to identify the role of Nursing in relation to the therapeutic use of cannabis manifested by the students of the Universidad Mayor Temuco.

Subjects and methods.

Qualitative research with a social phenomenological approach according to Alfred Schultz. The Sample was of an intentional or selective type, made up of 20 students, after signing the Informed Consent, year 2018. Data collection through two focus groups; Manual process and Atlas Ti version 7.0 were used for their analysis. Guba's rigorous criteria were used. Ethical aspects protected by the Ethics Committee of the University.

Results.

Three categories emerged: Care management, educational role, investigative role, the most mentioned were the first two and the least the investigative, community-oriented education emerges.

Conclusions.

The students recognize the care role in the management of care in analgesia, direct care and palliative care; there are no administrative links, invisible educational role in the curriculum, highlights the training and community education with the use of social networks and training; research is lacking and the nurse figure in it.
